"Tolerance Prize"
of Cottbuser Aufbruch

On November 19, 2019, generationE was awarded the "Tolerance Prize" by „Cottbuser Aufbruch“ for Germany’s first "Butterfly Project." The „Cottbuser Aufbruch“ Tolerance Prize honors projects and initiatives that advocate for democracy, tolerance, diversity, and respectful coexistence.

generationE implemented Germany’s first "Butterfly Project" in collaboration with the „Bewegte Grundschule“ in Cottbus. As part of an educational program on the Holocaust tailored to their age group, fifth and sixth graders explored the biographies of murdered children and adolescents and painted ceramic butterflies in their memory. These butterflies are now on permanent display as part of an installation on the school building. The project at the „Bewegte Grundschule“ in Cottbus has sparked a true chain reaction; since then, 54 other schools across Germany, Europe, the USA, and Brazil have joined the "Butterfly Project." generationE coordinates the "Butterfly Project" throughout Germany and Europe.
