Footprints of Remembrance
Children with disabilities were systematically tortured and murdered in the so-called "Children's Wards" of German health institutions by the National Socialists. More than just deprived of their lives, they were removed along with records of their existence. The Lebenshilfe Council therefore developed the idea of commemorating those with ceramic painted footprints, which are to be publicly exhibited in an installation. Each of these painted footprints stands for an individual whose fate must not be forgotten. In accordance with the concept of the "Butterfly Project", painting of these ceramic footprints will be preceded by an educational program.
